Eco-friendly IOT

The Isles of Scilly in southwest England have set themselves the goal of using 40% renewable energy by 2025. To do this, they are employing a host of new technologies, including the Internet of things. A community based IoT platform will be able to monitor electricity usage in homes, to track demand. If more energy is needed, it can then be drawn from renewable power sources, such as electric vehicles which can be charged at times of the day when there’s less demand, and smart batteries, which are being installed in homes and solar sites. There’s also the incentive of rewards for homes which use less energy during high demand periods.
